THE ASPECTS
Course 4 of 6: Learn how the aspects affect behavior
The Signs show how planets are modulated and colored. The Planets show drives, either personal or collective. The Houses show where these modulated drives are directed in our lives. But the Aspects are what makes the horoscope alive.
Aspects are the angular relationships between planets. For example, at the Full Moon, the Sun and Moon are opposite each other. At the New Moon, they conjoin, and the Moon is not visible. All planets can be in opposition or in conjunction with each other. They can also be in square and trine, which represent dissonant and harmonious relationships. These angular relationships are known as aspects, and their strength is determined by how exact the angle of the aspect is – also known as the orb.
Because planets show basic drives, (for example Mars shows the need to compete and win), when they connect with each other, it is possible to see how these drives are manifested. For example if Mars and Jupiter aspect each other, there will really be a winner mentality, whilst if Mars aspects Saturn, there will be more of a fear of losing, which all the psychological complications that ensue.
If you understand aspects, you can accurately describe people’s behavior. Aspects are a sure thing – what people do and how they do it becomes predictable. Once you understand how people are affected by the basic energy of planetary aspects, you can really relate to them and help them optimize the good energies and transform the more challenging energies. Understanding aspects is nothing short of revolutionary in the astrological consultation.
